Mind Blowing Mind Mapping Software For Free

Posted by Justin Brooke on September 2, 2007

Wow! I’ve only just started using mind mapping techniques and really it’s all due to meeting Stephen Pierce. After meeting Stephen at his new house in Whitney, Texas I was really impressed with his knowledge. I started digging up some of his past work and his talks about mind mapping was what hit home the strongest.

After constantly losing space on the four whiteboards in my office, I started thinking someone has to have created software that does this. Sure enough, there was mind mapping software aplenty! However, some of it was quite expensive. Being the lover of Open Source software that I am - I started testing free mind mapping software.

There were several to choose from, but my hands down fave is Mindomo.com. You’ll hardly realize this is actually a web app. and not some expensive downloadable software. It is incredibly easy to use and has the look of an Adobe created software. Take a look at a sample of the mind maps it can produce. (A mind map I did earlier on a project that I am currently seeking partners for.)

Here’s a little quick start guide to using Mindomo:

1.) Register (free)
2.) Login
3.) It starts you off with the central hub (main idea)
4.) Double click inside any bubbles to edit the text
5.) When finished writing just press enter to save
that bubble (Or click out side of it)
6.) Press “tab” to create a sub-topic off any highlighted
bubbles
7.) Bubbles can be moved around by click and dragging
to where you want it placed.

It’s as simple as that and then you can save it either to your private folder or to a public folder. Once saved you can “export” the map in a number of different formats. This free mind mapping software is brilliant for taking those million dollar ideas we entrepreneurs get out of our heads and into a much safer digital format. Once it’s digitized now you can take it to investors, developers, and potential partners.

Personally I come up with so many ideas per day that I can never act on each one. Now I have a way of archiving them for later or even to compile and sell to other entrepreneurs with more time on their hands.

What are your thoughts? Do you know of any free or paid mind mapping software that is better than Mindomo that I talked about here? Did you like this resource? Leave a comment and let me know…

The Toolbar Marketing Method

Posted by Justin Brooke on September 1, 2007

Toolbar marketing is something that was really supposed to get a lot more attention and momentum this year. I was researching it heavily in January and even saw Anik Singal talking seriously about it being the big wave. It really should be too, but maybe it’s still to early for some.

My toolbar has done wonders for me via tons of new opt-ins, backlinks, and now since they have it downloaded I can send messages directly to their screen. (RSS based not IP based) My wife has started using toolbar marketing also in her niche and has seen 280+ opt-ins in about 2 weeks. All she did was create a squeeze page based around a keyword she researched to have high traffic and low SEO competition and then offered a toolbar full of resources related to that keyword. (free teacher resources)

These toolbars are 100% free to create. When given away for free they make killer link bait, lead generators, and the best part is you can fill them with affiliate links and no one can ever tell! Your affiliate links are 100% cloaked because the toolbar never even shows what link or site they are going to before they get there. Add on a tell-a-friend script and you have a powerful traffic gen. engine for zero cost and only about an hour or two of time to make.

Conduit.com is a website where you can create custom toolbars for both the FireFox and Internet Explorer browsers. I suggest you use the “messages” module so that you can send messages to all your toolbar users…These messages go right to their browsers and avoids all spam laws!!!

Have you used toolbars in your marketing? If you have or start too please leave a comment and share your success stories and concerns.

Welcome To IMDiscoveryZone.com

Posted by Justin Brooke on September 1, 2007

Ahhh…The birth of a blog. I feel like there should be a party of some sort…

Well, I’m not good at telling stories about my self as I feel like I am bragging. There is PLENTY of information about me out there if you really want to dig some stuff up. I want to keep the attention on the blog and not myself. I want this blog to become a service to the Internet marketing industry. A place where people can count on discovering new ideas, tools, and people that can help them with their everyday activities.

If you are interested in business automation, traffic generation, web analytics, and market research then you have found your next blogroll partner. I’ll be updating this blog everyday with at least 2 paragraphs on some new tool, idea, or person whether it hurts me or not. I want to take this blog into the big leagues of the blogosphere and I’ll need your help to do that. So in return I plan to give you the most killer content (mostly online business tools related) I can humanly come up with.

All I ask from you is to read, learn and discover.

This blog is interactive and I am a very responsive type person. If you feel comfortable interacting via comments, backlinks, quoting, or asking questions on the ASK THE AUTHOR page…Know that you’re actions will not fall on deaf “fingers.”

I’d say that’s enough chit-chat and lets start discovering Internet marketing.
